Ginger Leigh and John Pointer first met in Rome, Italy in 1995 while studying abroad through The University of Texas at Austin. Both were already active performers with their own musical pursuits, but it didn't take long to discover something special: an effortless vocal blend, a shared musical language, complementary personalities, and a friendship that would span decades.
What began as a chance meeting evolved into a lifelong creative partnership built on trust, mutual respect, and a genuine love of performing together.
As individual artists, Ginger and John have each built extensive careers as performers, songwriters, recording artists, and entertainers. Together, they create a sound that is far greater than the sum of its parts. Ginger's sultry, powerful vocals and commanding stage presence pair naturally with John's extraordinary musicianship, intricate guitar work, pitch-perfect harmonies, and orchestral approach to arranging. His ability to create layers of sound and texture from a single instrument is remarkable. Her ability to connect emotionally with an audience is equally undeniable.
Their performances move seamlessly between original music, reimagined favorites, rich storytelling, humor, and spontaneous moments that can only come from two musicians who have spent years sharing stages and life experiences. Sometimes serious. Sometimes hilarious. Always authentic.
They have performed together in a variety of projects and configurations on stages ranging from intimate listening rooms to premier theaters and festivals. Their appearances include ACL Live at The Moody Theater, The State Theatre at The Paramount, The Shrine Auditorium, The Saxon Pub, Antone's, The Regal Room, One-2-One Bar, Anderson Fair in Houston, Teatro Santa Ana in San Miguel de Allende, as well as festivals and venues throughout Europe and beyond.
Whether performing for a theater audience, a listening room crowd, a private event, or a festival stage, Ginger Leigh and John Pointer bring a rare combination of world-class musicianship, genuine chemistry, and infectious joy. Their connection is real, their sound is unique, and their performances leave audiences feeling as though they've spent an evening with old friends who just happen to be extraordinary musicians.
(Oh and did we mention they both played lead roles in a 55-show run of RENT as Zach Theatre in Austin? Ginger played Maureen and John played Roger to highly acclaimed reviews and enthusiastic audiences.)
