In February 2023 — roughly one year before his passing — W.C. Clark sat down with Ginger Leigh for a special interview at the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame event held at ACL Live at the Moody Theater. Widely known as the Godfather of Austin Blues, W.C. Clark helped define the sound of Austin. A master guitarist, soulful vocalist, and generous mentor, he bridged generations of Texas musicians. From his foundational role in building the Austin blues scene to mentoring artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, his influence remains deeply woven into the city’s musical DNA.
